In this role, you get to produce content that shows real people doing incredible work and educates the community about all the good things mining brings to NSW. Plus work with the Newcastle Knights to promote our iconic partnership with the NRL club.
As part of our campaigns and content team - supported by agencies and external experts - you will work on short-form video, podcasts, YouTube content, newsletters, paid advertising, websites and supporter communities.
We’re looking for someone who is experienced, can bring new energy to what we do and help shape the way we speak, especially to people under 40 in Sydney.
We want you to be able to work independently, be creative, have fun and express yourself through your work.
A technical specialty or experience in video shooting and editing, photography or graphic design would help make this a good fit.
A background in a fast-paced content role, including but not limited to sports content, media or the entertainment industry would be preferred.

Responsibilities include:
- Social media content leadership. Planning, production, creation and publishing. Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and quality across all formats and platforms.
- Develop ideas and content that educates and gets people (especially younger people) excited about mining as an industry that is needed for society, is responsible and is great to work in.
- Build relationships with people across the mining industry, find talent and develop ideas for how to bring the best out of them in our content. Some travel around NSW required to research and create content.
- Manage and moderate all social media channels, including responding to comments and DMs. Own content calendar. Report on performance and optimise content to maximise reach and engagement.
- Stay informed about trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to make sure the NSW Minerals Council is a content leader.
- Write content and manage and maintain websites including nswmining.com.au and responsiblemining.com.au.
- Lead on Voice for Mining community engagement and growth - help us build our network of supporters and keep them connected to the good things mining brings to NSW.
Skills and experience
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - not afraid to speak to people you don’t know
- 5+ years in content creation / social media with a background in storytelling, video, digital marketing
- Creative thinker - bring new ideas and new ways of doing things
- Proficiency in social channels, production tools, editing software, analytics platforms, email marketing, website content management - we use Adobe, Canva, Wordpress, Campaign Monitor and more
- Experience working with and managing external agencies
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver against deadlines
- Excited about meeting new people, creativity, and storytelling
