Previous intern testimonials
I feel very lucky to have gotten the job and I wouldn’t have been able to do it if I hadn’t had the chance to work at King Sound so thank you for giving me that opportunity.
Dan Grosskopf Now at Rumble Studios as Sound Designer
I started as a volunteer and am now working here 20 hours a week paid. During my time here I have been able to work on several areas of the business including, social media, events and the website. In turn I have learnt new skills and gained a well- rounded scope of the business as a whole.
Rosalie Breen
Thanks for teaching me so much, for letting me run your studio and to ultimately trust me with your space. It was a great learning experience and a real leg up in the industry.
Mathew Bicket - Now Audio/Video Lead Op at Opera Australia
I started a volunteer position at King Sound Studios in Sydney CBD. After a few months I gradually moved into a sound producer role - recording, editing and producing radio ads, voice overs, music and sound to picture as well as office admins. King Sound has a large variety of clients coming through its doors and I had to adapt quickly to be ready for any job.
The most important thing that I learnt working was how to deal with people. Joe Lewis the head engineer, was a great mentor to learn from in this regard. He showed me lots of Pro Tools tricks and ultimately helped me reach a professional level. During this time I gained a valuable understanding of what's expected at the top end of the Australian arts and media industry.
One of my biggest paid jobs was working on the launch of Triple J's Unearthed Digital radio project ,which involved abstract and challenging sound recording and editing skills
John Duncan - ex RMK Voices - Agent and Producer
My time at KSS was invaluable in getting my start in radio. I was given the opportunity to work alongside and learn from many big names in the VO and audio industry with years of experience between them. Among the many things I learned .How to produce audio to broadcast quality
Directing and engineering recording sessions
Time management and attention to detail
I learned an incredible amount in a relatively short time and without this experience there is no way I would have been able to get my current job as a commercial producer at a large radio network in Southeast Queensland.
Matt Cancian - Now at Prime Radio Group QLD
"Just wanted to give you a big thanks for letting me in and showing me the ropes. I loved my time here at King Sound and I’m appreciative of the experience and knowledge it has given me. Best of luck to you and the boys in all future endeavours."
Chuck Hunter - Now Producer at Rumble Studios
