This Position Matters Because:
The Senior Tour Accountant is responsible for managing all financial aspects of an allocated promotional tour and may be required to oversee outputs delivered by Tour Accountants or more junior staff. This includes budgeting, tracking daily expenses, reconciling tour accounts, and ensuring the financial integrity of the tour. The role requires close coordination with promoters, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely financial reporting, cost control, and adherence to budgets.
The position works closely with the Head of Touring Finance referring decisions and seeking guidance and mentoring for more complex or challenging project settlements.
Critical to this position is the ability to use initiative, build relationships with internal stakeholders, timeliness and attention to detail in financial processing.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Management
- Provide accurate and timely financial services and processing pertaining to complex tours including:
- Float requests and acquittals with all necessary documentation.
- Provide DAL bank details for payments to external persons.
- Prepare and present financial reports to promoters and management including (but not limited to) tour profit and loss statements.
- Provide real-time financial updates to promoters and managers and ensure all financial operations align with the overall tour strategy (where required).
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws and financial regulations.
- Collect and enter ATO Taxation Information for each international artist and/or entertainer.
Budgets
- Track and report on budget vs. actuals throughout tours, festivals and events, proactively identifying any variances and providing guidance and advice as required.
Financial Tracking and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of tour-related expenditures, including vendor payments, travel costs, accommodation, per diems (travel daily allowances), and production costs.
- Monitor the Trade Debtors Ledgers and ensure all payments are made on time.
Processing Payments
- Set up account details for payments.
- Process invoices and payments based on promoter information pertaining to venues, artists, vendors and other stakeholders in accordance with contracts and agreements.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with payment terms and conditions.
- Process payments in accordance with agreements and approvals.
- Process artist chargebacks.
- Process OneMusic AU & APRA NZ Invoices.
- Process Travel Grid and all Travel invoices.
- Review and process road float acquittals.
Settlements
- Prepare and process all settlement information including (but not limited to)
- Ticket revenue, ticketing/venue rebates, venue settlements, production costs, float acquittals, marketing costs, travel costs, insurances, OneMusic, and accounting fees.
- Ensure appropriate internal approvals are in place prior to processing.
- Process relevant internal journals in MYOBA to allocate Company recharges and accruals.
- Prepare and process artist payments in line with the artist contracts and taxation obligations.
- Reconcile all accounts at the end of the project, ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
Business Partnership and Advice
- Partner with promoter streams to build trust and effective working relationships.
- Provide robust financial advice and insights on financial processes and data.
- Proactively develop financial reports and data to ensure performance is visible.
- Partner and provide financial education to ensure financial systems, databases and tools are adopted effectively.
- Provide assistance on ad hoc tasks as required by DAL’s Managing Director and/ or Head of Touring Finance.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
- A relevant qualification in accounting, finance or a related field.
- 2+ years experience in a live event accounting role (Essential).
- 10+ years experience in a financial, accounting based role.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, or similar.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Australian Work Rights.
- A valid driver’s licence (Preferred).
