Seeking a passionate A&R Manager with a knowledge of emerging and established Australian and international electronic / dance music artists.
Australia’s longest running independent dance music label Central Station Records, has a long history in Australia dating back to 1976. We work with artists such as Odd Mob, ShockOne, R3HAB, Starley, Alex K, Hutcher, Moss, Dr Packer, Sunset Bros, Tina Says, Topic and more via Central Station and our sub labels Tinted, October Records, Soul Modern, Dinky and Dark Machine Records.
Position summary:
We are looking for a dynamic, music loving person to identify emerging artists suitable for our various labels Central Station, Tinted, October Records, Soul Modern, Dinky and Dark Machine Records. Working closely with our A&R team and reporting to our Head of A&R, the successful candidate will be our person on the ground at shows, scout, identify, sign, develop, curate and define the musical content of the Central Station label and its sub labels and to provide the CSR label team with assets to help them achieve their goals of promoting and marketing releases.
Tasks inherent to the position:
- Scout, identify, sign and assist with the development of artists and producers for release in commercial marketplace
- Be a face of the label to all partners in the industry and other businesses
- To work with label staff for releases in the creation and implementation of releases
- Help facilitate the creation of audio recordings by artists, hiring of producers, song selection, studio locations etc. with artists, A&R and artist management.
- Develop knowledge of record producers, songwriters, mixers, video directors, photographers, and other professionals associated with the A&R process.
- Ensure brand plans are consistent with artist and label strategies (local and international)
- Work with Promotions, Marketing & Design Managers in the creation and commissions of album and single art packaging, videos, digital content, photos and tools for all releases.
- Check, authorise and process invoices as appropriate.
- Co-ordinate mixing and mastering of album and single releases.
- Liaise and work with label management and production department in regards to release schedule planning and timely distribution and delivery of assets.
- Work with the Head of A&R to maintain the release forecast for worldwide owned repertoire.
- Maintain knowledge of overseas and domestic charts, trends, cycles and cultures to enhance A&R decision making.
- Build and nurture external relationships with the wider music industry including but not limited to radio, DSPs, agents, media and venues
- Ensure artist concepts are marketable and target consumer behaviours
- Work with legal in ensuring that all contracts and agreements are securing rights in the best interests of the business.
- Create recording budgets P&L reports for potential releases and work within budgets approved by MD and GM.
- Assist with the events and touring wing for Central Station Records with fully executed plan
- Creation and maintenance of Spotify and Apple Playlists in conjunction with the marketing department for promotion of our artists.
Experience:
- Record label, management, agency or dance music industry experience is preferable
