Social State Entertainment (SSE) works with some of Australia’s key music venues, programming live events across the country. With offices in Brisbane and Melbourne, we’ve grown into one of Australia’s premier booking and event programming companies.
We’re seeking an experienced Venue Booker / Event Programmer to join our Melbourne team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, a deep passion for live music, and the ability to curate, develop, and deliver both one-off and recurring live music events.
You’ll work closely with the national Social State team, venue managers, booking agents, artist managers, and national tour promoters. For this role, existing relationships within the Melbourne and wider Australian live music community - across all styles and genres (Dance/EDM, Rock, Pop, Metal, R’n’B, Folk etc.) is essential.
Candidates with strong event administration, organisational skills, and genre knowledge will be looked upon favourably.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and book live music events across Melbourne venues, as well as SSE’s regional and interstate partner venues.
- Collaborate on marketing activities for venues and events.
- Experience with email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp) and social media campaigns are highly desirable.
- Manage ticketing builds and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and distribute show information to key stakeholders.
- Complete show settlements and post-event reports.

- Proven experience in venue or artist bookings.
- Strong understanding of both the Melbourne and national live music industry.
- Existing relationships within the local music scene.
- Excellent initiative, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Creative approach to curating and developing unique live music events.
