We are currently seeking applications for an experienced Junior Product Developer to join our growing team in our Alexandria Studio, full time.
The Junior Product Developer’s role is to assist and support the Design and Production team in executing product through the development cycle to bulk delivery each season.
With a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in a Product Development role, you will be confident in building relationships with suppliers globally and have a driving willingness to learn. Strong communication skills are a key requirement at an internal and external level, and strong organisational skills are a must. The role requires competence in Microsoft and Adobe programs as well as a current driver’s license.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design support
- Assist and support the Design team across all categories
- Assist the Design team in the management of fabric and trim development; sourcing of fabric and trims, input data into relevant trackers and file all information (soft and hard copies)
- Obtain and file all fabric information for selected qualities including certificates
- Data input of all fabric and trim/accessory details into ERP, including set up and costing of products in ERP
- Ensure sustainability and environmental credentials of all suppliers are up to date and filed
- Ensure test reports are obtained and filed for all qualities (new and existing), raising any concerns with the business for resolution
- Work with pattern maker to execute wear and wash tests for any new qualities and trims at sampling stage, raising any concerns with the business for resolution
- Assist in maintaining Wash and Wear Test folder with patternmaker, to be updated seasonally
- Support Design team to raise fabric and trim/accessory sampling purchase orders
- Obtain and prepare SMS and bulk costings from both local and offshore manufacturers, and ensure updates are recorded in ERP and communicated to wider team accordingly
- Assisting in the organisation and follow up of seasonal fits including fit model bookings and tracking co-ordination of outstanding styles for approval including SMS samples, special requests, shoot needs etc
- Attend fit sessions to support Design team, and communicate comments and/or changes required to local/offshore manufacturers
Production support
- Execute season Fabric and Trim folder for Production team handover including emphasis on new qualities. Complete recording of wash and wear test results following guidelines set by the business alongside pattern maker
- Calculate bulk fabric requirements and raise bulk fabric purchase orders
- Receive, cross check and file all bulk fabric production invoices for payment liaising with Operations Manager for payment schedule
- Assist and review offshore supplier invoices against purchase orders and liaise with Production Manager to resolve any discrepancies
- Liaise with freight forwarders/logistics on all incoming bulk fabric orders and offshore garment delivery including US and EU distribution and direct to client shipments (with wholesale team support)
- Work with offshore suppliers to resolve any sampling and/or production issues under the guidance of the Design and Production departments
- Coordinate the shipping of offshore trims to relevant suppliers in line with Critical Path timeline

- Ability to anticipate issues and ability to take initiative in problem-solving
- Strong skills in Excel, Word, Google Docs, Adobe Creative Suite, with ability to learn various internal software systems
- Longer hours will be required during busier times
- Valid Australian drivers’ licence as well as a reliable car
