As we continue to scale, we are looking for a Junior Financial Controller to join our team full-time. This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a leadership position in finance and play a critical role in our operational and strategic decision-making.
Role Overview
As the Junior Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations, supporting budgeting and reporting processes, and ensuring the company’s financial health is strong and sustainable. You will work closely with the owner and management team, providing insights to improve profitability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and payroll
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Ensure compliance with ATO obligations (BAS, PAYG, Superannuation, etc.)
- Oversee Xero accounting software and ensure financial data integrity
- Implement internal controls and cost-saving initiatives
- Assist with inventory and stock cost analysis
- Liaise with external accountants, tax agents, and auditors
- Liaise with our offshore admin team to coordinate financial data, reconciliations, and reporting tasks
- Provide financial insights to support business decisions
- Monitor KPIs and prepare performance dashboards for management
- Support general operational and administrative tasks as required to ensure smooth day-to-day business operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting
- Strong knowledge of Xero (or similar cloud-based accounting software)
- Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling basics)
- Solid understanding of Australian taxation and payroll legislation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have (Not Essential)
- Experience in a manufacturing, production, or screen printing business
- Exposure to inventory and job costing systems
- CPA or CA (part-qualified or working towards)
