Job Description
The Australian Financial Review is seeking a creative, clever and well-connected reporter for a 12-month max term contract to deliver high-quality stories about Work, Careers and Executive Education.
The successful applicant will ideally have broad knowledge of the key issues facing Australian workplaces and the latest trends affecting career progression, including the courses, experiences and advice needed to achieve success across different business sectors. You'll be expected to quickly build a solid understanding of the major business trends influencing tertiary education providers and workplace culture.
The reporter will have experience in news writing, preferably for digital platforms, and will be expected to pitch ideas for regular work/career/executive education stories, write analyses and features, and deliver interviews with key players.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver stories for digital and print about Work, Careers and Executive Education.
- Maintain strong contacts related to modern workplace trends/issues, career progression and executive education.
- Conduct interviews with key players in executive education and career advice/mentoring.
- Develop respectful and productive relationships with industry leaders.
- Collaborate with other members of the team.
Qualifications
- News writing experience, ideally in digital media.
- Working knowledge or interest in the issues affecting Australian workplaces and professional career advice.
- A strong network of contacts and familiarity with key institutions and personalities in the sector would be advantageous.
