Mona is seeking a Copywriter to help shape the organisation’s voice across its diverse cultural and commercial communications.
This role is suited to a writer with a strong conceptual approach to language and an ability to move confidently between cultural and commercial contexts. We are particularly interested in candidates who have developed their craft within editorial, publishing, cultural organisations, or design and branding studios, and who value clarity of thought, originality, and precision in writing.
While the role is responsible for brand communications, this is a writing-led role rather than a marketing-led one. It will appeal to writers who enjoy ideas, language, and cultural context as much as they enjoy solving practical communication problems.
Reporting to the Head of Creative, the Copywriter will work closely with designers, marketers, and digital teams to develop thoughtful and distinctive writing across Mona and its associated ventures.
The scope of the role is unusually broad—spanning the museum, hospitality, accommodation, wine, beer and digital products—and requires a writer capable of adapting tone while maintaining a strong and consistent voice.
Unlike many in-house copy roles, this position offers significant creative authorship. The Copywriter plays an important role in shaping how Mona and its associated ventures communicate—developing ideas, writing across multiple formats, and contributing to the cultural and creative identity of the organisation.
As Copywriter, you will
- Write across a wide range of outputs including campaigns, websites, social media, packaging, signage, advertising, and digital platforms.
- Develop clear, distinctive, and engaging copy that supports both cultural storytelling and commercial outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Creative and design team to develop concepts and ensure strong alignment between language and visual expression.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of Mona’s tone of voice across its brand ecosystem, including Moorilla, Domaine A, Moo Brew, Manky Sally’s, Frying Pan and other associated ventures.
- Translate complex ideas, concepts, and institutional thinking into writing that is clear, engaging, and accessible without losing depth.
- Adapt writing style to suit different contexts and audiences while maintaining consistency of voice.
- Participate in the development of campaign ideas, brand narratives, and creative concepts alongside designers and marketing teams.
- Edit and refine copy across multiple projects to ensure clarity, tone, and quality.
- Work across multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines and organisational priorities.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, Digital and senior stakeholders to ensure writing supports broader strategic objectives.
- Support the development of internal writing standards and tone-of-voice guidelines.
We are looking for someone who enjoys the process of developing ideas through language—through discussion, drafting, editing, and iteration—and who is comfortable working closely with designers and creative teams.
About you
- You are a thoughtful and capable writer with a strong sense of voice and an ability to adapt your writing to different contexts.
- You are comfortable moving between cultural storytelling and commercial communication without losing clarity or originality.
- You enjoy working collaboratively and are interested in how language, design, and ideas come together to create compelling work.
- You bring intellectual curiosity, strong judgement, and a respect for craft.
You will bring
- Strong professional writing experience in roles such as Copywriter, Content Writer, Editor, or similar.
- Experience writing across multiple formats including digital, print, editorial, and campaign-based work.
- The ability to develop clear and engaging writing from complex or unconventional briefs.
- Strong conceptual thinking and the ability to contribute to creative ideas and narratives.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills with close attention to detail.
- The ability to adapt tone and voice across different brands and audiences.
- Experience working collaboratively with designers, marketers, and creative teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A genuine interest in art, music, and contemporary culture.
- A tertiary qualification in Writing, Journalism, Communications, Literature, or a related discipline (preferred).
