OneMed emerged from a critical recognition of significant gaps in the Australian sleep health market. Our founder, James Carmody, identified key barriers preventing many Australians from accessing proper diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders, particularly sleep apnoea. These barriers included prohibitively high costs, limited treatment options, and a lack of awareness about the importance of sleep health.
In 2020, at the age of 25, James founded OneMed with a clear mission: to revolutionise sleep health solutions by making them more accessible, affordable, and effective for all Australians. Drawing from his background in digital marketing, James saw an opportunity to leverage technology to disrupt the traditional sleep health market. He envisioned a model that would utilise e-commerce, telemedicine, and data analytics to streamline diagnostics, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes.
James’s innovative approach quickly gained traction in the industry. He strategically leveraged his digital marketing expertise to build brand awareness and drive customer acquisition. His focus on user experience and customer education helped OneMed stand out in a traditionally complex healthcare sector.
As the company grew, James demonstrated remarkable leadership and adaptability. He built a team of experts, including healthcare professionals and tech innovators, to support his vision. Among these key additions was Bobby Afshari, whose experience in healthcare and strategic partnerships complemented James’s innovative approach.
Under James’s leadership, OneMed has experienced phenomenal growth, achieving a consistent 300% year-over-year increase for the past four years. This rapid expansion is a testament to James’s innovative vision, tech-savvy strategies, and ability to navigate the complex healthcare industry.
