With an emphasis on the highest quality local architecture and design, The Local Project celebrates honest and human-centred design through premium print, digital, editorial, video and social content, with over 83M impressions per month across our owned, operated and third-party platforms. As we continue to diversify our content and grow our audience, we are seeking a motivated, confident, and proactive Senior Editor to join our team in Sydney!

The Senior Editor will work closely with our in-house production and content team to lead our post-production capabilities and champion our video content. They will also collaborate with the Production Manager and Director to achieve long-term strategic objectives for the business. The successful candidate will possess professionalism and display a creative and confident attitude towards their work.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an editor
  • An advanced knowledge of editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro X
  • A working knowledge of other video editing software such as CyberLink PowerDirector 365 and iMovie, as required
  • A working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom
  • Experience with editing footage captured on both RED and Black Magic camera equipment (ability to handle equipment as required will be considered a bonus)
  • Experience with editing time lapses and seamlessly integrated into storylines
  • Experience working with architecture and buildings
  • Excellent organisational and filing abilities; management of file storage and supply to client and in-house team
  • Ability to work closely alongside an in-house production team to ensure a smooth transition between production and post-production and ensure the achievement of client goals
  • Ability to interpret client briefs and apply to post-production
  • Experience editing unscripted on-camera interviews
  • Good organisational skills and self-motivation are essential characteristics
  • Able to work against deadlines and KPI’s
  • Ability to travel domestically as required
  • Although not essential, a network of freelance resources with production and editing capabilities is considered beneficial
  • Although not essential, drone license and ability to navigate a Mavic Pro drone is considered beneficial
  • Although not essential, a background knowledge, or interest, in the design industry is considered beneficial

  • Leading The Local Project’s post-production capabilities
  • Liaising with Senior Videographers and Content Creators (both in-house or freelance) on delivery of video assets in a timely manner
  • Interpreting brief in a manner befitting both The Local Project and the client
  • Adhering to imposed deadlines regarding The Local Project’s media schedule and third-party client media schedules
  • Sourcing appropriate tracks and applying The Local Project’s visual style guide to videos produced
  • Working alongside the Production Manager to deliver first cuts to clients with top-line explanations and justifications for creative decisions
  • Working alongside the Account Management teams and Production Manager to interpret client feedback in subsequent cuts
  • Colour grading and finalising videos that have been approved with appropriate 4k resolution and 40k bitrate.
  • Delivering, storing and filing all raw footage and final assets
  • Applying client notes and feedback to first and subsequent cuts, respectively
  • Actively contributing to the planning of The Local Project’s forthcoming media schedules with insights, lead times and other relevant information – this involves communication across the Production, Social Media and Account Management divisions of the business
  • Keeping up to date with required software and ensuring that The Local Project’s machinery is adequately serviced and fit for purpose
  • Working alongside the Production Team and Director to achieve long-term strategic objectives for the business

  • An ability to manage an Assistant Editor/s as the team expands
  • A strong understanding of digital and social media, website and print advertising

  • An ability to film at a consistently high level for multiple days per week
