Pedestrian Group (Winner – Publishing Company of the Year, Mumbrella Publish Awards 2021) is on the lookout for a talented Multimedia News Producer to join the PEDESTRIAN.TV team and give us a hand creating that spicy content you know and love.

Reporting to the Head of Editorial and the Managing Editor, the Multimedia News Producer will be responsible for producing news-based content across both written and vertical video formats and distributing it across our channels.

The successful applicant will be a news obsessive, ready to dive into the latest AusPol drama, breaking local news story or spicy op-ed on how cooked the Aussie rental crisis is right now. They will be passionate about telling stories across various formats; from written explainers, to TikToks breaking down a big issue, to highly shareable Instagram carousels.

If you believe that young Aussies deserve reporting on the issues that matter to them, then we want you to help us tell these stories across our channels.

The Multimedia News Producer will understand and be able to execute the PEDESTRIAN.TV tone across both written and video content, have a ripping sense of humour, be able to work independently, and be ready to hit the ground running in our fast-paced yet supportive and collaborative newsroom.

The position calls for someone with:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in media, communications, journalism, or design (preferred, but not mandatory)
  • 1-2 years experience news writing in a digital newsroom
  • Proven success with vertical video viewing rates and engagement figures (either on professional or personal accounts)
  • Experience in social media management working across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube (preferably in in a newsroom environment)
  • Success with growing an audience on vertical video platforms
  • A keen news sense of what young Aussies care about
  • Their finger on the pulse of online conversation, from what’s popping off on TikTok to the biggest Twitter/Reddit/IG story of the day
  • A unique tone of voice or point of view
  • Experience editing video (preferred, but not mandatory)
  • Skill creating assets in Canva and/or Photoshop
