Sydney Dance Company is Australia’s leading contemporary dance company located in the newly renovated Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. Led by Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela, our full-time company of 17 dancers is one of the world’s strongest forces in contemporary dance. Sydney Dance Company performs regularly in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne and undertakes extensive national and international touring, and well as collaborated and/or commissioned many digital film projects.

POSITION PURPOSE

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Marketing and Communications Coordinator who can communicate effectively in a team environment and is passionate about the performing arts. Sydney Dance Company is a growing organisation that requires efficient and effective content management to deliver exceptional user experiences throughout our customer journeys. This position is to support the Marketing and Communications department to deliver exceptional marketing strategies across all areas of the business. You will be collaborating with our marketing, communications, CRM and program teams to deliver messaging for the organisation as per the communications strategy and for campaigns as per the marketing strategy. You will support the team through the creation of copy and content for all channels, including paid and owned media.

You should possess experience in communications and marketing and the ability to interpret data insights for campaign messaging and strategies that are innovative and customer focused.

REPORTING / WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work within the Marketing and Communications Department, reporting directly to the Marketing, Communications and Partnerships Director and working closely with the Senior Marketing Coordinator, Communications Manager, Partnerships Manager and Head of CRM. You will also work with other teams across the organisation and develop content and marketing for all areas of the business.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Marketing

  • Support development of company messaging, core brand and sub brands
  • Support content strategy implementation and planning
  • Developing campaign messaging across all areas of the business
  • Develop copy for campaigns, the website, social channels, eDMs and automations
  • Social media and customer engagement monitoring and reporting
  • Proof-reading marketing collateral and facilitating feedback across multiple departments where necessary
  • Liaising with artists, teachers and internal departments to assist with compiling show programs, brochures and marketing collateral
  • Managing promotional tickets for Company shows

Communications

  • Support for communications strategy implementation
  • Liaise with media to facilitate any publicity requests or opportunities
  • Monitor and archive media clippings
  • Assist with Classes and Schools publicity campaigns
  • Assist with National publicity campaigns
  • Maintaining media contact lists and ensuring contacts are up to date
  • Actioning image requests from media and managing publicity image folders
  • Assisting Publicity Manager at media calls
  • Securing media promotions and listings
  • Collating performance reviews and distributing to relevant stakeholders

Both

  • Provide administrative support to the Marketing and Communications teams in support of Sydney Dance Company’s goals and audience and revenue development targets 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Communications with coursework in marketing, public relations, or work experience in communications and marketing delivering content that has increased productivity internally and revenue externally.

  • A minimum of 1+ yrs. experience in communications and marketing
  • Knowledge of communications, marketing and content strategic implementation
  • Knowledge of gathering key information to aid in the production of key marketing and communications reports
  • Experience writing multi-channel campaigns
  • Exceptional ability to contribute insightful and effective copy
  • Superb collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Excellent ability to focus and prioritise when faced with multiple project deadlines
  • Passion for the promotion of the arts, particularly in live performance

Desired

  • Understanding of Google analytics, SEO, keywords and development of customer journeys

 

HOURS OF WORK

This role is a full-time role with a 3-month probation period.

The usual hours of work are 38h/week, within the core operating hours of 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday. We are open to discuss working from home for some days of the week in line with others in the department.

However, the requirements of this position require a degree of flexibility. Some additional or outside of usual hours work is required to meet our changing business needs and the demands of your role.

The position is based at Sydney Dance Company Wharf 4/5, Walsh Bay Artis Precinct, 15 Hickson Road, Dawes Point.

 

SALARY AND ENTITLEMENTS

Salary up to $60,000 plus super dependent on skills and experience.

4 weeks annual leave and 10% superannuation.

Complimentary tickets to SDC productions, subject to availability.
