Oaktree is an ambitious non-for-profit, with the mission of young people leading, demanding and creating a just world. We work across the Asia-Pacific region by supporting youth-led, grassroots organisations to tackle issues they identify as important in their communities. Our aim is to decolonise the international development mechanism by supporting our partners to lead the change they want to see. Our partners currently work in the areas of climate action and sustainability; gender equality; education; youth employment and enterprise; and technology and innovation. Our volunteers are our biggest strength at Oaktree, so it’s incredibly important to efficiently recruit, train and maintain a strong volunteer base.

As a Community Engagement Officer you will be responsible for sharing Oaktree’s advocacy and international programming work with our supporter community, assisting in the delivery of major fundraising campaigns, and communicating Oaktree’s story in order to secure philanthropic support.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
● Engage our supporter base by regularly updating them on our impact, and providing them with the opportunity to be more involved.
● Design and deliver fundraising campaigns, and contribute to the development of new fundraising products.
● Share Oaktree’s story and impact in order to apply for grant and philanthropic opportunities.
● Work closely with advocacy and international programming teams to develop a database which internally communicates our impact activities.
● Work closely with operations, finance and data teams to implement Oaktree’s fundraising strategy.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
● Communicates clearly and effectively, and tells stories through their writing.
● Has a passion for social impact, and believes in empowering people to create the changes they want to see in their communities.
● Enjoys building relationships with people.
● Is driven, organised and collaborative.

WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF IT:
● Develop valuable experience and skills in fundraising, relationship management, and communications.
● Develop an understanding of data, operations, marketing, advocacy and international programming through frequent collaboration with Oaktree’s other portfolios.
● Help generate the funding and resources which enable Oaktree’s international impact: empowering young people to tackle sustainable development challenges in their own communities.
● Collaborate closely with passionate, impact-oriented and like-minded young people across Australia.
