JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT EDITOR

The Editors is a boutique post house in Sydney and Melbourne, with a focus on the creative process of editing. While we specialise in TVCs and advertising content, we are also passionate about short films, music videos, documentaries and feature length films.

The Editors work with major production companies and advertising agencies based both in Australia and internationally. We are looking for freelance and a fulltime Assistant Editor to join our tight–knit team.

The ideal candidate will not only meet the following requirements but will also have the right attitude and demeanor to work with our close team, and share an interest in the culture and values of the industry.

To work as an edit assistant for our company you must possess the following skill-set:

• Proficient in Avid Media Composer
• Ability to prepare projects for editors, including logging, syncing and subclipping, multicam grouping
• Experience with various common camera formats such as Red, Arri Alexa, Sony A7S, Canon 5D/7D, GoPro and transcoding raw camera footage via DaVinci Resolve
• Sourcing sound effects and music tracks
• Use of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop
• Knowledge of creating EDLs and AAFs
• Experience with encoding to a wide range of delivery formats

General Duties include:

• Opening and closing the building, setting up edit suites for the day
• Being aware of the daily edit schedule, able to assist on any job when asked
• Logging and tracking hard drives
• Pro-actively communicating with producers and editors to ensure a smooth process
• Interest and aptitude in the art and craft of screen editing
• High levels of organisation and attention to detail
